Why does the internet explorer shut down when I try to open an attachment?

I can search the internet. I can read my emails. I can send attchments via email but, if I recive an attachment a box comes up and says there has been an error. When I hit okay the explore closes down. I have to reconnect. Is it my computer?

Get Firefox. nothing like this will ever happend again. I think you have spywate affecting IE or the attachment is corrupted.

My internet explorer has been very aggrivating lately, It keeps shutting down at random for no reason with a “Internet explorer has encountered a problem and has to shut down” error, I’ve done a virus scan, and my computer does not have a virus.

Additional info, I’m on a Windows Vista 32bit computer, with all microsoft updates applied.

Which version of IE are you running? Try updating to IE 7 (preferably) or IE 8 RC1 if you haven’t already.

Consider switching to Firefox, or another browser like Opera.

If I type in a website into the address bar, an error box pops up (Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.), and then it will shut down just that browser window. If I have multiple browsers open, it will not affect them. This only happens when I type in the address. If I click on a link, or select a page saved in my favorites list, it will work just fine. Why is this happening, and how do I correct it?

I get an error message that says the program will shut down. This happens every time I try to open an email. It does not happen on my mac, just my pc laptops.

may be you have problem with your internet browser, upgrade it
or try to open your e-mail in firefox
otherwise you have got auto-run virus
scan your computer

I tried to copy and paste a picture into word. Now when I try to use clip art in Word or PowerPoint a pop-up box reads “Clip Organizer cannot complete the operation: Error Code 0X800C0008. Does anybody know how to fix this?

Please don’t say to uninstall and reinstall. I have lots of papers and information in these program and cannot lose it.

I test the bar on firefox and it works to perfection, however when I test this same page in internet explorer it doesn’t work at all….if anyone knows the problem to this solution please tell me I would really appreciate it, thanks 🙂

If I am watching a video online (except for youtube), like a video on demand(vod), using Firefox 2 an error message with the options send and don’t send always come up and then I press don’t send and Firefox exits. Please help, why does it do this?

Anytime I try to play any file other than a .wmv file on the Internet, Firefox has an error and shuts down. The same goes for Internet explorer. Anybody know why this is and how to fix it?

Most likely caused by a faulty codec.
To remove codecs > –//labnol.blogspot—/2006/12/how-to-remove-or-uninstall-audio-video.html

Windows Media Player will automatically re-install codecs once you remove them. So remove all the ones you think may be causing the problem.
