How do I make Firefox successfully connect to the net when clicking a web link?

aikon56: How do I make Firefox successfully connect to the net when clicking a web link?
After installing fIrefox on my Win2k and selecting it as a default program for *.htm, Firefox shows up when I click on a URL. However, I keep on getting the following. Pls note that the URL is valid (like –//—.yahoo—) and DOES open on Internet Explorer.

Server not found

Firefox can’t find the server at

* Check the address for typing errors such as
ww.example— instead of
—.example—

* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer’s network
connection.

* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

I have that problem occasionally with version 2.0.0.3. Sometimes I just hit the refresh button, other times I have to reboot.

Why does my Internet Explorer give me an error message and close when I am trying to open a link others open?

Zoey: Why does my Internet Explorer give me an error message and close when I am trying to open a link others open?
I tried changing cookies to enable all, didn’t work, I updated IE, still doesn’t work. I even downloaded Firefox and it won’t open the link yet other people can open it. I have a current Adobe Acrobat Reader. I even tried shutting down my firewall. I could use any suggestions anyone has.

Every time I click on a link that opens up a new window, I get a runtime error. How can I fix this?

Austin Gremlin: Every time I click on a link that opens up a new window, I get a runtime error. How can I fix this?
The message that comes up reads as follows:
Runtime Error
Program: C:Program files (x86)Internet Exploreriexplore.exe
R6025
-pure virtual function call

What is going on, how can I fix this, and how can I prevent it from happening in the future?
I already tried that.

explorer has encountered a problem and is shutting down.

I don’t get this if I connect via Firefox.

Anybody have any ideas?

It is possible that you have a bad cache file. Clear your history, temporary files (be patient) & cookies, then restart the computer and retry. This HELP link has instructions: –//help.yahoo—/l/us/yahoo/mail/yahoomail/settings/settings-15.html .

Another possibility is that you have a conflict with one of your add-ons in IE. I’m currently having this issue with the Shockwave Add-on. Go to Tools > Manage Add-ons and disable all your add-ons. See if your mail works now. If it does, that is your problem. Add them back, one by one, until you find the one that is the exact problem. Then remove that, try reinstalling it, or just leave it disabled.

I’m using Vista home premium but don’t experience the errors you are describing, is your PC fully up to date (windows & drivers wise?) Have you tried Firefox as an alternative?

How do you link Mozilla Firefox to your Flash player?

psych23232323: How do you link Mozilla Firefox to your Flash player?
I just got Mozilla Firefox but when I tried to go on Youtube through it, it tells me I need to update my flash player. But I already have the flash player updated and it works on IE.

Is there a way I can get Mozilla to acknowledge the flash player I already have?

Internet Explorer uses a different type of plug-in than everyone else (the ActiveX plug-ins are one of the big reasons Internet Explorer is vulnerable to a lot of viruses). You have to download Flash Player again from Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari, or any other non-IE browser.
