Why is firefox suddenly unable to connect to certain webpages?

.: Why is firefox suddenly unable to connect to certain webpages?
It just started today. For some reason, certain web sites get the “unable to connect” error, and these are sites that have worked before. I downloaded the new firefox a few days ago, but this just started today. Why is that? How do I fix it?
I’ve cleared cookies and no, the site is not down. It does this for multiple sites.
also, i turned off firewall and reset firefox but it still doesn’t work.

Try to clear up cookies and your browsing history. If that doesn’t work try typing on google: “is my site down or is it just me” and verify if that site is offline or not.

After installing fIrefox on my Win2k and selecting it as a default program for *.htm, Firefox shows up when I click on a URL. However, I keep on getting the following. Pls note that the URL is valid (like –//—.yahoo—) and DOES open on Internet Explorer.

Server not found

Firefox can’t find the server at

* Check the address for typing errors such as
ww.example— instead of
—.example—

* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer’s network
connection.

* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

I have that problem occasionally with version 2.0.0.3. Sometimes I just hit the refresh button, other times I have to reboot.

Answer: Why wont Firefox connect to the internet?

Rob: Why wont Firefox connect to the internet?
A couple of days ago my Firefox and internet explorer stopped working out of no where. My computer is connected and everything but every time I open up FF or IE it says problem loading page and that i should refresh and try later or check the connection. I know that the connection is good because my older brother is able to get on FF without a problem. Does anyone know a solution to this?

Check your settings and make sure you aren’t set up to be using a proxy.

Also check to see if a dial up connection is configured.

If either of these are enabled they will show that error
