Answer: What is this error I keep getting and why does it show up on every computer in my house?

BMoreOriolesGirl: What is this error I keep getting and why does it show up on every computer in my house?
It used to not do this. Every web browser I have (IE, Firefox, Safari) on every computer does the same thing.

Line: 268
Char: 1
Error: Object Expected (<- WTF is THAT?!)
Code: 0

Are they all set to the same homepage hon?
That <– is TF an error code which is telling you that your browser is looking for something it can not find.. specifically it is looking for a method on Line 268… which ain't there.

Methinks the problem is in the coding of your home page…. But.. if you have different home pages..mayhaps you have a problem with your router's firmware…

Every time I try to send a yahoo email I get a message that internet explorer isn’t working?

Debora: Every time I try to send a yahoo email I get a message that internet explorer isn’t working?
I have been trying to send emails for two days from my Yahoo account. Everytime I hit send, I get an error message saying that internet explorer isn’t working and it shuts down. I’m not having any other issues with the internet. I went in a cleaned up my Yahoo mailbox but that didn’t help.

I think that because your browser.
Note: Although these are Yahoo! Mail supported browsers, we always recommend for the optimal Yahoo! Mail experience that you upgrade to the latest version.

Two reasons to upgrade:

Faster Speed – Newer browsers are faster than ever.

Safer Protection – Viruses and spyware don’t stand a chance.

You can use the all-new Yahoo! Mail with the following browsers on the following operating systems:

Windows XP, Vista, and 7:

IE 6.0 and newer. Note: Soon we will no longer support IE 6. We strongly encourage you to update to the newest version of IE for the best Yahoo! Mail experience!
Firefox version 2.0.0.1 and newer
Safari version 3.0.4 and newer
Google Chrome version 1 and newer

Mac OS X 10.4, 10.5, and 10.6

Firefox version 2.0.0.1 and newer
Safari version 3.0.4 and newer

In the new Yahoo! Mail, you don’t do this with your browser anymore. Now, just change your character encoding setting right in Yahoo! Mail!

Here’s how:

In the toolbar, click More Actions and select Set Encodings.
From the list that appears, select the encoding that matches the message’s content.

Note: Only one character encoding set may be viewed at a time. And in this case, changing your browser’s encoding setting will not work.

The Discussion Tool can cause Internet Explorer to crash when using the new Yahoo! Mail.

To fix this, look for a yellow box with the lower corner turned up along the top of the browser in the Internet Exlporer toolbar.

Click it. While clicking, look at the bottom of your browser window. Does a lower toolbar open with discussion options? If so, click the X on the far left of that toolbar and then try logging in again. This should solve the issue.

How come every time I start Java, It crashes?

1 of 3 things.

1. Your Computer has viruses. (Most likely) I recommend using Avast! Anti-virus ( –//—.avast— ) and Spy bot Search and Destroy ( –//—.safer-networking— ) These take time to scan, but make your computer so much cleaner. safer, and faster. If this doesn’t work…

2. Your computer might be out of date and too old to handle Java. This means cleaning up your computer, replacing old parts inside it, or just buying a new one.

3. Your version of Java is buggy. This is common and is fixed by un-installing, restarting, and re-installing the newest version.

If it’s something else, I’m sorry. I can only think of those three. Good Luck!

Why do I get a Javascript error on every web page?

Angel Silva: Why do I get a Javascript error on every web page?
It’s the same error on every single page and it’s very annoying. It’s ‘JSON’ is undefined. Code: 0 Line: 418. How do I get rid of this?
Ok but it’s on every single web page I visit. Different web sites every time. MSN, Yahoo, anything.

Because the company who created the website you are viewing did not adequately test their web pages prior to putting them into production.

Send them a note – include your operating system and browser, and browser version. And the error.

I know it’s annoying…but they probably don’t even know about it.

Your internet connection might be bad but that doesn’t explain why you can only watch famous videos. You might want to make sure you have downloaded the newest up to date adobe software.

Have you tried clearing your cache and cookies in your browser settings? Your ISP may have some issues.
Another possibility is if you’re behind a firewall or are using internet security beyond virus and spam filters. Sometimes a firewall will interfere with flash embeds. If clearing cache and cookies doesn’t work, try turning off some of the extra security functions. Zone Alarm, while a great firewall, is no notorious for blocking any kind of mobile code when a person sets high security settings in advanced mode.

Deleting your internet cache:

Internet Explorer 7:
1. From the Tools menu in the upper right, select Delete Browsing History.
2. Next to “Temporary Internet Files”, click Delete files… .
3. To delete your cookies, click Delete Cookies.
4. Click Close, and then click OK to exit.

Internet Explorer 8:
1. From the Safety menu in the upper right, click Delete Browsing History… .
2. Deselect (i.e., uncheck) Preserve Favorites website data, and select (i.e., check) Temporary Internet files, Cookies, and History.
3. Click Delete.

Firefox 3 for Windows:
1. From the Tools menu, select Clear Private Data… , and then check Cache and Cookies.
2. Click Clear Private Data Now.

Firefox 3.5 for Windows
1. From the Tools menu, select Clear Recent History… .
2. From the Time range to clear: drop-down menu, select the desired range; to clear your entire cache, select Everything.
3. Click the down arrow next to “Details” to choose what history elements to clear (e.g., check Cookies to clear cookies). Click Clear Now.

Safari:
1. From the Safari menu, select Reset Safari… .
2. From the menu, only select Empty the cache and Remove all cookies, then press Reset.

Firefox 3.5 for Mac OS X:
1. From the Tools menu, select Clear Recent History… .
2. From the Time range to clear: drop-down menu, select the desired range; to clear your entire cache, select Everything.
3. Click the down arrow next to “Details” to choose what history elements to clear. Click Clear Now.

Firefox 3 for Mac OS X
1. In Firefox, from the Tools menu, select Clear Private Data.
2. Make sure Cache and Cookies are checked, and then click Clear Private Data Now.

Google Chrome:
1. Click the Tools menu. (the wrench in the upper-right corner)
2. Click Clear browsing data…
3. Check the boxes for the types of information you wish to delete.
— Clear browsing history
— Clear download history
— Empty the cache
— Delete cookies
— Clear saved passwords
You can also choose the period of time you wish to delete cached information using the Clear data from this period dropdown menu.
4. Click Clear Browsing Data when ready.

Answer: what should I do if I get an error message every time I try to download an anti-virus?

Christopher B: what should I do if I get an error message every time I try to download an anti-virus?
Every time I try to download an anti-virus, I get an error message. I have tried AV Pro, Norton Anti-virus. The download goes fine, and then when I try to install I get an error. What can I do? Why am I getting an install error, even with different programs?
First I get a separate box that opens for Norton Anti-virus and says that access is denied.
If I do have malware, what do I do to erase it?

🙂 Who Dares Wins
You do not say what type of error message you get: You might not have administrators rights to install for example. If this is not the problem, try booting in Safe Mode and installing again. If that works I would suggest that you are infected with malware that is preventing the installation.

Who dares wins.

1. At the top of the Firefox window, click the Tools menu, and select Add-ons.
2. The Add-ons window will open. In the Add-ons window, click the Extensions panel.
3. A list of installed extensions will be displayed. If you see any extension that you did not install yourself, select it, and click Disable.
4. Above the list of extensions, click Restart Firefox.
5. If the error still occurs, try disabling a different extension.

How can I stop the Unresponsive Script errors I get every time I check my mail?

Matt: How can I stop the Unresponsive Script errors I get every time I check my mail?
I use Vista/Latest Firefox. It takes up to 5 minutes for me to sign in and open my first email. This started after yahoo changed their homepage, to the day. Is there anyway I can choose the old homepage (like classic yahoo), or turn off something to get these scripts to stop? Every answer I see is in reference to IE. Any solutions for us Mozilla people?

Yahoo and Microsoft are merging their Search Engines. Yahoo is finishing up its new Home Page. The result has been turmoil for many Yahoo users. Approximately 10% of users are experiencing severe disruptions. Here are the main problems being reported:
*The Mail or Messenger button has disappeared.
*The Mail or Messenger button exists but clicking on it does nothing.
*Clicking on the Mail or Messenger button produces a blank screen.
*The SEND , REPLY, and FORWARD buttons are not working.
*Attachments (including photos) are not working.
*Error Messages are appearing. Error 999, Error 15, Error 8, Error 502. A good Error message explains what is happening. These messages only confuse you more. Don’t bother to reply to them. You get an auto-generated reply saying you have a problem with your Server. You don’t have a problem with your Server.
*A warning tells you that your ID and password are “invalid”. That is causing many users to panic. THey think their account has been hacked; or that they have a virus. They have not been hacked. No virus, either.
*You are asked for your “Security Question”. When you correctly enter it, you are asked for it again. And again.
*Fonts are shrunk so small that you need a microscope to read your email. Users think they have accidently hit a button that caused the change. They didn’t.
*Fonts turn giant. The words continue off the screen.
*Verified emails are not arriving. Friends have called to notify you that the email was sent. It does not appear.
*Friends are not receiving email from your account.
*You receive an alert that you have a new email. But the inbox is empty.
*The wrong name is appearing in the TO and/or FROM lines of your emails. This also causes panic about “hackers”.
*Emails are disappearing after they are READ or SENT.
*Mail Search is not working.
*You send out an email and get a “Mailer Daemon” or “Delivery Failure Notification”. But you don’t know why.
*Mail and Messenger won’t work on your PDA.
*Warning messages that you are logged-in on another “device” but you don’t own another device. You are only logged-in once.
*The date/time stamp is wrong.
*Your browser crashes when Mail or Messenger is used.
*Some accounts were “deactivated” by mistake. Yahoo apologized later, but it caused panic when users received notice that their entire account had been closed. With no warning.
*Users of premium services were told that their credit or debit card had expired and their accounts would be closed. The cards were not expired and it caused a lot of panic.
*Some users had their entire Address List disappear.
*Entire folders of email were emptied with no warning. One day they were full. Next day they were empty.
*Messenger users are told “Your time has run out” with no warning.
*There are endless “loading”messages whenever you hit an on-screen button.
*Websites like Craigslist tell you “You can not click on this link because your email account is not active”. But you do have an active account.
*Some users can not “cut and paste”.
*Some users are asked for their cell phone number to access their account. Over and over.
*Messenger users can not add their friends to IM.
*Messenger tells you that you are “offline” when you know that you are “online”.

These same problems happened in July and November, 2008. Each time the problems lasted 4 weeks. No user had the same problems for the entire 4 weeks. THe problems rotated around. Each day was an adventure. One day was fine; next day nothing worked. The vast majority of users had no problems. They couldn’t understand what the fuss was about.

This is a bad time to download or install any Yahoo programs. They are installing 99% , then freezing. Or they install 100% but won’t open. Be hesitant to download until Yahoo is done with the work.

The Yahoo Help Desk is swamped. Last week they said that the problems would be fixed “soon”. Later they told users that the problem might be in the user’s computer or browser or cell phone. Currently they say “Our engineers are aware of the problem. They are working on it.”

The smartest thing you can do is to monitor the Y!A category Yahoo Products>Yahoo Mail and >Yahoo Messenger. That will keep you up-to-date on what’s happening. Everyone is trying to find “workarounds” altho none of them work every time for everyone.

Click on FORUM at the left side of any Yahoo!Answers page. Look for the post “Problems going on with Mail”. It has recently filled up with gripes but it still has many of the existing “workarounds”

This will all be fixed.
